„We are so ready to shuttle bikers again“

Bikeindustrie und fragen nach, wie sie die aktuellen Herausforderungen meistern. Heute in unserer Reihe: Stefano Tortarolo vom Evolve Bikeshop in Finale Ligure, Italien.

Bergstolz: Hi Stefano, how are you and your team doing?
Hi guys, we are fine, thanks. But bored at home because of this lockdown. Thank you very much for this interview, it brings some alternation to my everyday life.

Bergstolz: Could you desribe the current situation in Finale?
At the moment, entire Italy has been in lockdown for more than 1 month, unfortunately all the sport activity are blocked at the moment, so the shop is actually closed since the March 10th. But we are working on solutions to start again normally.

Bergstolz: What is the delivery situation of your suppliers?
The delivery situation is “quite normal”. Because of this pandemia we decided to stop most of out pre-orders as we don't know yet what is going to happen during the season.

Bergstolz: Can you say anything yet about when you can resume shuttle service? Do you also have an online shop and can you absorb the losses in stationarytrade?
Unfortunately not, we are now waiting for Italian governement decisions. As we have a transport company, our vans are able to run every single day (as transportation is a primary necessity) but unfortunately our government do not allow us to do any sport. The lockdown has just finished , so hopefully we can give you good news very soon!

We are working non-stop right now on our online reservation system for shuttles and sports experiences that we will launch soon.

Bergstolz: Where is your greatest challenge at the moment? And how do you try to meet it?
Our biggest challenge is organizing the “re-starting” of our activities in the most normal way possible, we are buying sanification systems for the shuttles, protection masks and gloves for our team and customers. We're trying our best to maintain social distancing and keep you guys safe :)

Bergstolz: Dare you take a look? How will the 2020 season develop?
That's the 1 billion question, this really depends on how the mediacal situation in Italy and in the world will evolve, but we are ready to shuttle our beloved bikers even now, when people will be allowed to ride MTB on trails.

I hope we can operate normally from mid May, or if not, at least from September, for the autumn bikers season here in Finale.
